If it is a pet project, the incentive is other than profit? (n/m) posted by AZHeat on January 25, 2008 at 01:09 PM |

I don't want a company to come in and steal it. I learned that a long time ago when doing open source programming. One of my projects I think would have been a pretty big hit, the other has some good potential, but would have been expensive to get into. The first, I would basically give it away, but now that I know the community doesn't respect the IP of the designer, I don't think I want to release it. The second would have a ton of R&D costs, so it stops being worthwhile if someone else is going to jump in and just copy it, making my R&D costs a waste.
